A Portuguese foundry-backed SME has developed a new generation of highly efficient cast-iron pellet stoves, fully designed, prototyped, certified under Ecodesign 2022 and ISO 9001 standards, with complete technical files ready for industrialisation. The SME seeks a partner to acquire and integrate this portfolio of IP, technical projects and brand assets into an existing production and distribution structure under a commercial agreement.
BOPT20260113010
The SME has conceived and engineered a line of distinctive cast-iron pellet stoves that combine high thermal efficiency, durability and contemporary design with strict European environmental compliance. The range includes 9.33 kW models (three design variants) and a compact 5.1 kW model, all designed for eco-conscious homeowners seeking a reliable, low-emission heating solution using a renewable solid fuel.
All stoves have been developed with a focus on the thermal performance of cast iron, incorporating robust combustion chambers and main components in cast iron to maximise heat retention and service life. Technical development covers complete industrial drawings, bills of materials, manuals and test reports, enabling immediate transfer to serial production by a manufacturer with its own foundry or through specialised subcontracting.
The portfolio also includes a cast-iron wood-burning stove project currently under development, expanding the offer to both pellet and log-fuelled solutions. The associated brand and communication assets were built around sustainability, European design and environmental responsibility, with visual identity, catalogues, website and digital materials already created and tested in top reference international trade fairs.
Over recent years, substantial investment has been made in engineering, R&D, certifications, industrial property and marketing, including participation in leading sector events across Europe. This creates an opportunity for an industrial partner to integrate a mature, certified and protected product-family into its portfolio, reducing development time and risk.
Advantages and innovations
• Cast-iron expertise embedded in product design, ensuring high thermal inertia, durability and premium perceived quality in the domestic heating market.
• Certified compliance with Ecodesign 2022 and ISO 9001, enabling immediate market access in line with European environmental and quality requirements.
• Complete technical documentation (design files, industrial drawings, manuals and test dossiers) ready for direct industrialisation and replication at scale.
• Protected portfolio of industrial and intellectual property, including patents, registered trademarks and designs at national and European level.
• Brand identity, communication materials and digital presence already developed, with a sustainability-focused positioning aligned with current EU policy and consumer trends in renewable heating.
• Significant R&D and market-entry investments already carried out in engineering, certifications, branding and international trade fair participation, which can be leveraged by the acquiring partner.
Expected role of a partner
The SME is seeking an industrial partner in the heating equipment sector, ideally active in the design, manufacture and/or distribution of domestic heating appliances (pellet and/or wood stoves, boilers, or related equipment).
The envisaged buyer will acquire and integrate the portfolio of industrial and intellectual property assets (technical projects, certifications, trademarks and designs), incorporating the pellet and wood stove range into its existing product offer.
The collaboration may be structured as an acquisition of assets or licensing agreement, to be defined according to the buyer’s strategic objectives and industrial model. The buyer should be able to:
• Industrialise and commercialise the certified pellet stove models and the forthcoming wood-burning stove using its own facilities or qualified subcontractors.
• Capitalise on the existing brand identity and communication materials or rebrand/integrate the line into its portfolio while retaining the underlying technical and IP advantages.
• Work closely with the original technical team only during a clearly defined transition period, strictly limited to technical training and know-how transfer, to ensure effective know-how transfer and smooth integration into production and quality systems, without any subsequent operational or corporate linkage between the parties.
